The Diversity Richmond Black & Bold Awards, founded by activist Rodney Lofton, celebrates Black LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in the Richmond (RVA) community while honoring everyday heroes and fostering conversations around race and identity. For the program, I directed a conceptual portrait photoshoot of each honoree, incorporating symbolic elements reflecting their personal stories and aspirations. The resulting exhibition debuted at the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (BHMVA) as the first LGBTQ+ exhibition in the museum’s history.
